American Girl Doll Cakes

American Girl Doll Cakes

I have recently been asked to make a few american girl doll cakes.  In fact the petite fours that were in the last post were made for a Christmas American Girl Doll tea!  The two that I have made recently are similar.  The size difference is due to the size of the parties.

Christmas

Christmas

Tis the season for sweets!  For me Christmas is all about presentation.  I spend hours decorating my house, wrapping gifts super special and of course baking cookies and decorating cakes!

Here is my Ugly Christmas sweater cake :)

This was my first attempt at Petite Fours.  They were very time consuming but turned out really pretty.  You make a poured fondant for the shell as appose to fondant or icing for a regular cake.  Here is the basic steps in a nut shell -
1- make a one layer cake and cover with a thin layer of icing just on the top of the cake
2-freeze
3- cut in 1 inch squares
4-freeze
5- make poured fondant
6- cover each frozen square with the poured fondant
7-dry on cooling rack
8- decorate with butter cream frosting

Children Themes

Children Theme'd Cakes

Every child's birthday needs a great cake!  These are the birthdays where you spend hours and hours planning the theme and making it come to life!  Here are 2 cakes that really pulled the theme together!

Mini Mouse -
I made this cake for a two year olds birthday party!  Mini Mouse and Pink!

Monkey -
This cake is a mix of cake and cupcakes.  The monkeys stomach and head are small round cakes. The arms, legs, ears and mouth are all cupcakes!  This was you have something to cut and you have cupcakes for the younger ones to tear into!

Sorry I have been gone for so long.  I appreciate your patience and I promise I'm back in cake making mode!
