Pin-Up & Tattoos

Pin Up & Tattoo Cake

My friend had me make this cake for her husbands birthday.  She said she wanted pin-up girls and tattoos on it.  I know he is a fan of the vintage style so this is what I came up with....

Every Child Loves Cake

Here are a few cakes I have made recently for some great little ones!  Confetti cake seems to be a favorite among children.  Wilton has come out with confetti pieces you can add to any cake recipe.  Its a great way to continue your parties color theme inside the cake!

Peacock Cake

Peacock Cake

I made this cake for my best friends birthday in February.  Her favorite color scheme is blue and brown. I made each individual feather separately to create a cascade effect.  I think I would have added about 5 more feathers to make it more full if I had more time.  I just love the color effect of this cake!

Small Cakes

Great Things come in small packages

Everyone's birthday is special even if there is not a huge party!  I made this 6" birthday cake for a friend of mine.  Her favorite color is purple and she loves vanilla cake with chocolate icing.  This cake serves 4-6 people or one very happy, very full person!

These would also be a perfect size for a "smash" cake for a babies 1st birthday.  Also for an anniversary cake for you and your sweetie! The possibilities are endless!

Royal Wedding Cake

Queen Elizabeth's Wedding Cake

I just heard that a slice of Queen Elizabeth's Wedding Cake sold for $840!  That is a 47 year old piece of cake!  Do you think a slice of my cake will sell for that much ever?

This is her cake in November 1947.  She chose fruit cake as her flavor.  I am pretty sure that is the most un-chosen flavor among brides today :)  The detail on this cake is amazing.

Fun Fact - A slice of Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding cake sold for £1,918  in May 2012.

American Girl Doll Cakes

American Girl Doll Cakes

I have recently been asked to make a few american girl doll cakes.  In fact the petite fours that were in the last post were made for a Christmas American Girl Doll tea!  The two that I have made recently are similar.  The size difference is due to the size of the parties.

Christmas

Christmas

Tis the season for sweets!  For me Christmas is all about presentation.  I spend hours decorating my house, wrapping gifts super special and of course baking cookies and decorating cakes!

Here is my Ugly Christmas sweater cake :)

This was my first attempt at Petite Fours.  They were very time consuming but turned out really pretty.  You make a poured fondant for the shell as appose to fondant or icing for a regular cake.  Here is the basic steps in a nut shell -
1- make a one layer cake and cover with a thin layer of icing just on the top of the cake
2-freeze
3- cut in 1 inch squares
4-freeze
5- make poured fondant
6- cover each frozen square with the poured fondant
7-dry on cooling rack
8- decorate with butter cream frosting

Children Themes

Children Theme'd Cakes

Every child's birthday needs a great cake!  These are the birthdays where you spend hours and hours planning the theme and making it come to life!  Here are 2 cakes that really pulled the theme together!

Mini Mouse -
I made this cake for a two year olds birthday party!  Mini Mouse and Pink!

Monkey -
This cake is a mix of cake and cupcakes.  The monkeys stomach and head are small round cakes. The arms, legs, ears and mouth are all cupcakes!  This was you have something to cut and you have cupcakes for the younger ones to tear into!
